Rose Dagul:
Fischinger Would Imagine Far Away Type Things, 2015

This is a performance/improvisation by Rose Dagul where she is present in her own work. From her work, I could see that, the performance does not have to be done in the most traditional way. In this improvisation/performance she used MaxMSP, a visual programming software on her cello and voice to create this very compelling visual effect. The visual effect, which is another element, added a different dimension to the performance creating a unique atmosphere in each and every performance. Having her face and expression enlarged onto a bigger space can send a much more powerful artistic sense. The audio-visual relationship in this performance enhanced the performer's presence, thus possibly allowing the viewers to be more focused and impacted strongly with what she is trying to express in her piece. Her spiccato bow technique adds articulation and texture to the performance without overpowering the tranquility of the performance.

It has inspired me into looking into visual programming and how you sound can instantly transform visually through programming. The improvisation however, does not have to be monophonic. The voice improvisation gave fluidity to the work as well as create a sense of contrapuntal  texture even though it is a solo improvisation.
